DYEN

DYEN is from Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The city's gabber and early hardcore culture is a central influence on his productions and DJ sets.

DYEN grew up in Rotterdam, where the city's gabber and hardcore traditions shaped his listening. He played guitar and performed in bands before turning to electronic production and DJing as a teenager. His first shows followed in 2017, while uploads to SoundCloud helped his music find listeners. International bookings grew after the pandemic, and in 2021 he co-founded RECKLESS as a platform for producers working in hard techno and other fast, forceful styles.

His sound brings modern hard techno together with the kicks, vocals and memorable synth lines of oldschool rave. Distorted drums, sharp trance-like synths and industrial textures give the tracks weight and urgency. He calls this approach neorave: a broad space within hard techno that allows different rave styles to meet. The Rotterdam influence remains audible in his use of gabber and early hardcore, alongside emotional melodies and a playful approach to familiar sounds.

In his DJ sets, contemporary tracks meet older hardcore records and his own DYEN Edits. He rebuilds recognisable material with harder kicks and stronger drops, using a familiar vocal or melody to catch the room's attention. Reading the crowd shapes when he introduces unreleased music, changes direction or moves towards gabber at the close. The result is a direct, energetic set with moments of recognition and surprise woven into its momentum.

DYEN combines hard techno with gabber, hardcore and oldschool rave. His neorave approach uses distorted kicks, sharp trance-like synths and recognisable vocals; his own DYEN Edits rebuild familiar material for a harder dancefloor.

DYEN founded RECKLESS Records in 2021. The label and collective connect his own releases with other producers, while RECKLESS events bring that music onto the dancefloor.
