Where is Mario Ranieri from?

Mario Ranieri is from Austria. He is Austrian DJ and producer Mario Leichtfried, also known on record as Ranieri.

Biography

Mario Ranieri is the Schranz and hard techno identity of Austrian DJ and producer Mario Leichtfried. He founded SCHUBfaktor Music in 1999, the year of Elektr. Volksmusik, catalogue number SFEP001. His own label became a continuing home for his productions, while records such as It’s a campaign of fear and consumption on Carnage connected him to other hard techno imprints. The shorter Ranieri name appears on his techno releases, including Clock on Vernacular.

His music brings forceful rhythms together with synth melodies and vocals. Miss Me?, released in April 2020, places a melancholic melody and dark voice over a driving beat, with a separate remix by SveTec. Hardtechno is not for babies, made with his daughter Elena in 2016, connects that vocal-led approach to versions by O.B.I. and Boris S. The later collection titled The 2023 Remixes arrived on 12 January 2024, with 17 remixes including contributions from TRIPTYKH, Joanna Coelho and Weichentechnikk.

Ranieri began studying audio engineering at SAE Institute Vienna in 2008 and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. His recorded work offers several ways into the sound: the extended Gotec Club set from 29 March 2025, or the 2026 Studiosets 009 and 011 with their published tracklists.
